{"id":481,"date":"2009-01-29T00:01:17","date_gmt":"2009-01-29T08:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lovecraftforest.com\/blog\/?p=481"},"modified":"2023-04-01T16:06:11","modified_gmt":"2023-04-01T16:06:11","slug":"zbrush-mechanical-part-11-wireframes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/?p=481","title":{"rendered":"Zbrush Mechanical Part 11, Wireframes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-483\" title=\"box\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lovecraftforest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/box-300x291.png\" alt=\"box\" width=\"180\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/box-300x291.png 300w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/box.png 406w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wireframe cages are handy. \u00a0 \u00a0They&#8217;re pretty easy to make. \u00a0 In fact, you can make a wireframe of any mesh&#8217;s level 1 polygons quite easily. \u00a0 \u00a0You start with your basic mesh, and apply UVTile UVs from the UV pallet. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Subdivide the model 3 or 4 times so you have some nice detailed geometry to work with and store a Morph Target use &#8220;StoreMT&#8221; on the Morph Target pallet&#8211;we&#8217;ll need this later. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-484\" title=\"al28\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/al28.png\" alt=\"al28\" width=\"118\" height=\"127\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, we want to mask the wire look. \u00a0This is easy&#8211;alpha 28. \u00a0It just looks like a square smaller than the the full alpha space. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Use &#8220;Mask by Alpha&#8221; on the Masking subpallet and invert. \u00a0 I filled out the mask top and bottom squares from my alpha because I&#8217;m going to want a place to drop in a logo later. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/invertmt.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-485\" title=\"invertmt\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lovecraftforest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/invertmt-300x187.png\" alt=\"invertmt\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/invertmt-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/invertmt-1024x640.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/invertmt.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A quick application of inflate and we have the shape protruding up from the basic object. \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/inflate.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-486\" title=\"inflate\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lovecraftforest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/inflate-300x187.png\" alt=\"inflate\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/inflate-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/inflate-1024x640.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/inflate.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If only Zbrush had a way to just save this frame and chuck the rest. \u00a0It does! \u00a0 Remember that morph target we saved?
