masks (Zeebles). \u00a0 (You can view the full tutorial <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zbrushcentral.com\/zbc\/showthread.php?t=32673\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.) \u00a0 The point I want to show you here is that UV&#8217;s can play a very helpful role in making repeating detail. \u00a0Here we take a simple form, made up of a few polygons, and decorate it with a repeating geometry with very little work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/octonut.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-445\" title=\"octonut\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lovecraftforest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/octonut-300x275.png\" alt=\"octonut\" width=\"300\" height=\"275\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/octonut-300x275.png 300w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/octonut.png 609w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Step 1) Go to the UV menu (or the Texture Menu in earlier versions of ZB3) and select the UVTile button. \u00a0 This will stack\/overlap each polygon on top of the UV space. \u00a0Normally, overlapping UV&#8217;s is a BadThing\u2122, but in this case, this is exactly what we want.<\/p>\n<p>Step 2) Subdivide the object to get lots of detail&#8211;about 1M polygons (8 levels)<\/p>\n<p>Step 3) Go to the texture menu and select a texture that would look nice. \u00a0 A\u00a0seamless\u00a0texture will also look cool. \u00a0I picked built-in Texture 13, which looks tailored made for Greebles. \u00a0 In one step, the whole object is covered with texture, 1 copy for each polygon at level 1<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/texturesnut.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-446\" title=\"texturesnut\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lovecraftforest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/texturesnut-300x187.png\" alt=\"texturesnut\" width=\"300\" height=\"187\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/texturesnut-300x187.png 300w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/texturesnut-1024x640.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/texturesnut.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Step 4) Covert the texture to a mask by going to the Masking pallet and select &#8220;Mask by Intensity&#8221;. \u00a0 For clarity, you can turn the texture off if you want.<a https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/maskednut.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Step 5) Inflate once or twice to bring out the geometry.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sculptedmesh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/inflatnut.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-448\"
